Join the Port Colborne Optimist Club

Membership

We organize some of the biggest events in Port Colborne. From Canada Day in the park to the Kids Fishing Derby, Canal Days Craft Show, the Duck Race, and more.

We are always looking for civic-minded people to join our ranks so that we can achieve more for our community. If you want to get involved simply fill out the form below and we will be in touch. We need committee members to work behind the scenes to organize the above events, help pick up trash for our twice yearly road clean-ups, load trucks and put up tents, to spread the word and sell duck race tickets so we can continue to raise funds for our community, our student sponsorships and bursaries, and our school food and book drives.

It takes a village and we want you to be part of ours.

We are dedicated to helping youth in our community grow and succeed. We develop optimism as a philosophy of life while promoting an active interest in good government, civic affairs, respect for law, patriotism, and international accord and friendship. We believe that giving of one’s self in service advances the well-being of humankind, community life, and the world.

In early 2025 we formed a Junior Optimist club, a self-governing offshoot that put young adults up to 18 in charge of running their own events (under our supervision) and getting them on the path to Optimism. They hold elections, have a president and executive board, and committees. Their club structure follows our own, and they fulfill most of the functions that we do. But they get to do some of it with crayons and markers and posters so they arguably have more fun.

Our club currently meets on the Second and Fourth Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm at the Lions Hall on Chippawa Ave., Port Colborne. If you are not yet ready to jump into membership please be our guest, and learn more about how our organization is the biggest cheerleader for Port Colborne youth. (Meetings are not walk-ins. Please fill out the form below and let us know in the comment field when you would like to attend).

You are one step closer to helping us make a meaningful difference in the lives of our youth. If you have questions about membership or how you can help, please call us on 289-228-4978
