Lions Club Food Drive

Optimist Club at the Lions Food Drive

Last week the Optimist Club joined with the Lions, PC Fire and Emergency Service, PC Sailors, Golden Puck, PC Youth Basketball, and Lakeside Yacht Club (apologies for anyone I missed) and many volunteers on the annual city wide Food Drive. All donations go to Port Cares food bank, and directly to the individuals and families in need in our community.

The collection hub was the Christian Life Assembly. Wendy’s and Lemayzz supplied sustenance for all the volunteers. Laurie, Bonnie, and Jan organised the drivers. Chris and Gord were our Optimist drivers, with nine other members helping collect food from two separate routes, picking up two full truck loads! Bonnie also collected food at a local apartment building, making three routes in total.

Thanks to everyone that contributed their time, energy, and spirit to this effort. It takes a team. A community. And we are very pleased to be a part of this one.

Thank you also to everyone that dug out even the smallest food donation for us to collect. Grocery bills are not getting smaller. Those contributions are even more appreciated, in these tough times. And not just by us. But by those that will benefit from them.
