The Optimist Club is always looking for ways to help our community and particularly youth. Our motto is, after all, ‘Friends Of Youth’. We thought, wouldn’t it be a fantastic idea to combine the two?
On October 23rd the Port Colborne Optimist Club is holding an open house initiative to explore interest in forming a Junior Optimist Club, right here in Port Colborne. The event will be at 49 Chippawa Road at the Lion’s Club Hall, at 7pm.
We invite young people between the ages of 10 – 17 to come along (with a parent or guardian) and discuss what we hope will be a chance for Port Colborne youth to form their own Junior Optimist club, complete with president and executive, to organize and participate in community events. What will those events be? Let’s form a club and find out!
Junior Optimists
Junior Optimist clubs around the world encourage interactions with others, facilitate communication skills, and teach confidence. They inspire. They bring out the best in people and give them strong building blocks for the future. Theirs, and ours. This meeting will be the first step toward that goal.
