Now that the weather has changed and Summer fades into a chilly Autumn, our thoughts turn to the cold and wet of Winter. Many of our most vulnerable members of society (the children) do not have access to warm winter coats, and that is something we can help with.
Today, 5 of our intrepid members went along to Lapennaco Liquidation at the Seaway Mall in Welland. This community-minded store gave the Optimist Club a good deal on Winter coats and matching ski pants in sizes from small to teen.
The members rushed these over to Port Cares on Charlotte Street in Port Colborne and handed them over to Amanda Upper, the Housing and Homeless manager, for distribution.
Membership Drive
This is another example of small efforts making a large difference in a medium sized community. If you want to know more about what we do as a club and how you can help with our many different programs, come out to our upcoming Membership Drive at the Lions Hall in Port Colborne (49 Chippawa Road) on November 22.
We will give you all the information you want, and you can meet and greet with some of our members to ask questions. If you just want info for now, check our ABOUT page. Or, you can just sign up HERE to be a member. See how easy it is, and how much fun we make it?
