Habitat for Humanity is a global organization dedicated to helping families get started on the path to home ownership and building futures for themselves. Around the world, volunteers give their time and skills and energy to build homes, often from the ground up. Locally, Habitat For Humanity are working here in Port Colborne right now preparing to make another family dream come true. And they are doing it with a twist. This build, is a Women’s Build.
All the volunteers helping on this site are female. Just for fun. And though this work can be hard and fast-paced, they do have a lot of fun.
The Optimist Club wanted to do our little bit, so our own female team turned up at the site on Friday laden with food to feed those hungry workers. There is such a thing as a free lunch, and we were happy to supply it. A range of assorted goodies helped keep hunger at bay long enough for the home builders to get through another day. Keep up the good work, people!
