Canada Day is a big thing everywhere in Canada. Here in Port Colborne, celebrations centre on H.H. Knoll Park and the Sugarloaf Marina.
The Optimist Club runs this annual event. We enjoy seeing the throngs of people coming down to enjoy what we have put together. The running order of events this year is as good as ever. We added a couple things, dropped a couple things, changed up a couple things. Got to keep the event fresh for our guests! From animal shows to bouncy castles, kids games, a vendor fair and live music, there is much to take in. All the details are in the poster here, which you might also see on walls around town. Please feel free to share it!
Festivities will pause around 1pm for the National Anthem, sung again this year by local vocalist Violet King. This year the Special Olympics crew will also complete the Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run during the opening ceremonies, the convoy will end on stage with us and they bring the Special Olympics torch with them.
Our day begins bright and early as we set up the tents and stalls and everything needed to make this day an event people have come to love. The Optimist Club penny sale will be a major draw as always. We will be selling Duck Race tickets for Canal Days, and they are going fast. To have a chance to win big, get yours soon before they are gone!
For the kids, every single kid that comes up to our tent gets free entry into a draw to win a big prize! Bonus, the first two hundred also get goodie bags. Not saying what that big prize is… come see us to find out.
We really look forward to a hopefully blistering hot day in the sun with this amazing community, and the people of all ages that make it such a great place to live. Come on down, say hi!
