We work hard in the background for months to arrange the practical side of this free fathers day event. From free worms to free hot dog lunches. We try hard not to get those two mixed up.
The many volunteers helping out on the day deserve our gratitude. They include several members of the Port Colborne Lions Club. Their only reward is the sight of all those smiling kids faces. Some of them wear vests and measure the fish, and try to make sure it was the kid – and not the parent – that caught that fish they are about to measure. It is, after all, a kids fishing derby. The clue is in the name.
Of course the event would be very different without the extremely generous prizes donated by our sponsors. Sponsors come from all corners of Niagara, but most are right here in Port Colborne. Without them we would not have an overflowing prize table each year. So, this year, we want to explicitly thank every one of them directly, for continuing to make this event so popular every year.
