Greetings of the season to all that celebrate it. The Port Colborne Optimist Club wishes everyone a wonderful Christmas time. But not everyone will have one.
At our recent annual Christmas get together at the Smokin’ Buddha in Port Colborne we set ourselves a price of admission. Each attending member was tasked with bringing a pair of mittens, or a hat, or some gloves. Or all three. The items were collected and bundled together, then delivered to Port Cares as part of our ongoing support for the Coats For Kids program which keeps children from disadvantaged families warm during winter.
The Optimist Club recently donated a number of winter coats to this worthy cause. These head and hand-coverings will add to the warmth provided by those coats, and keep those children even more cosy and warm.
Seen here being helped deliver the goods by his granddaughter, Optimist Larry passes the items into the safe hands of Port Cares’ Stephanie for distribution.
We can’t give everyone a happy Christmas, but we work to do what we can, where we can. That’s Optimism.
Merry Christmas!
